Ok so over the past 4 and a half years I have been having very bad stomach issues. I have been to the doctor on numerous occasions and had amillion test ran (blood, urine, endoscopy, biopsy ect) and have been tested for celiac, IBS and thyroid disease. All negative. But finally after a little research of my own I am convinced that I have H. pylori! I have ALL the symptoms and it all makes total since to me! So I was getting my list of questions and concerns ready to make an appoint to see the doctor when 2 days ago the doctors office called and the PA told me I hav a UTI! I had taken a blood and urine test about 3 weeks to a month before and assumed all was well because I had not gotten a call earlier! I have no sypmtoms of a UTI at ALL! I couldnt even believe I had one when she first told me. So now I have to take antibiotics for it but im a little scared about the side effects. they sound kinda rough. I NEVER medicate myself. not even for a simple cold. This is my first time taking medication. But b4 I do i just want to make sure I really have it. I was wondering if I h pylori can be misdiagnosed as a UTI in a urine test? That is where the doctor found the UTI in my urine. I know that h pylori can make you get infections. I have had 2 ear infections in my entire life. and thats it. once as a baby and again when I was about 5 or 6. And my immune system is not that strond cuz I have a immune defency.I have not had a chance to make an appointment to get tested for h pylori yet so I was also wondering since they dont know to look for it when I took the urine test could the "UTI" really just be h pylori but since I have not be tested for it or even brought it up to my doctor they just assume its a UTI? Can h pylori even be detected in urine? My mom picked up my antibiotics lastnight but I dont want to take them until after Thanksgiving so i wont be sick on the holidays with my family. But afterwards should I still take the medication or wait and get tested for h pylori

Symptoms of a urinary tract infection

Bladder infection:

*strong, constant urge to urinate

*sharp pain or burning in the urethra during urination

*inability to fully empty bladder

*possible blood in urine

*soreness in lower abdomen, back, or sides

Kidney Infection, the symptoms would be:

*above symptoms plus the following

*back pain

*chills

*fever

*nausea

*vomiting

What are your symptoms? Have you had any pain when you urinate?

Symptoms of H Pylori might be close to a kidney infection. So a kidney infection would be worse than bladder infection.

I think I would insist on another test due to them reporting the results to you so late. 3 weeks is way too long for them to finally tell you you have a UTI.

Have them retest and tell them you want the results in a few days. Or go to another doctor

I don't believe H. Pylori can be misdiagnosed as a UTI in a urine test.

Careful with that last answer suggesting that antibiotics for H Pylori would be the same as antibiotics for UTI. That might not be true.

H. Pylori would not show up in your urine, and they usually test a few things when the do a urinalysis one is for bacteria which comes back positive when you have a uti. The good thing for H. Pylori is that antibiotics are one of the treatments for H. Pylori so should you have it you'll be killing two birds with one stone so to speak.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
