Pink eye symptoms may be cause for a sample of mucus or fluid to be cultured to see if a bactrial or viral infection is present and what treatment would be most effective. In the presence of addtional symtoms many other tests could be ordered including a strep culture. I many cases of uncomplicated "pink eye" no testing is required and a diagnosis can be made by symptoms and examination alone.

usually just by examination, dont mess around with any herbal or over the counter remedies, they dont work
