We've hatched a Canadian Goose who's mom was killed by coyote and he's about 2 years now. I was wondering what kind of parasites he could possibly transfer to humans if someone had accidentally stepped in it's droppings or something, and to dogs too? Even if he doesn't eat grass or anything off the ground from outside or near any farm animals.

E-coli and eventually death. My Sassy pup just died because of all the Canadian Geese poop that is here on our boardwalk, the grass and beach area of Lake Mission Viejo. The many restaurants on this Lake allow people to throw crumbs to these filthy, crappy geese. Sassy didn't eat the poop, but being a dog she would sniff everywhere, which is just as bad going directly into the nasal passage. Unfortunately, we live on the lake level, and in the middle of the night if she wanted to go out, we would just take her outside our patio onto the grass. During the day we'd take her away to a geese free park to play and walk. I'm so sick of our government protecting these filthy fowl, and not protecting people or their pets. Something must be done to protect us, we were here first, the geese came later. Many people around this Lake have complained about being sick once they come in from swimming and or just sunning on the beach where the geese have been, even though our association has cleaned the poop up, it is still in the sand. This is 2015 folks and we definitely aren't protected from these foreign bodies.

Your canine must be ok for the main area. All birds carry specific parasites, yet ducks are a tiny bit purifier than, say, pigeons. inspite of the shown fact that, you need to call your vet to get the heartworm meds. those function all-purpose wormers which will kill something your canine could have picked up from ingesting goose droppings.
