Chloraprep is a clear solution that contains cholorhexadine. It is used to clean the skin prior to needlesticks, when placing central catheters, in doing central line dressing changes and prior to some surgeries. It is used by doctors, nurses and health professionals.

It is protocol to use chloraprep at the hospital I work at for starting IV lines. It has been found to clean the skin better than alcohol wipes.
